to set up the Cycle integration with your Jira or Jira Product Discovery workspace, follow these steps:

Step 1: Get Your API Token

  1. Go to

  2. Click "Create API token"

  3. Label it: Cycle Integration

  4. Copy the token immediately – you won’t be able to see it again later.

Step 2: Create a Webhook in Jira

  1. In your Jira instance, go to: Settings β†’ System β†’ Webhooks

  2. Click "Create a webhook"

  3. Fill in the following:

    • Name: Cycle Integration

    • Status: Enabled

    • URL: https://gear-backend.onrender.com/jira_integration/

    • Issue related events: Check "updated"

    • Projects: Leave blank for all projects (or specify certain ones if needed)

Step 3: Create a Cycle Webhook

  1. Go to Settings β†’ API

  2. Click Create webhook

  3. Label it as either Jira or JPD

  4. Use this URL: https://gear-backend.onrender.com/jira_integration/

  5. Set the trigger to value changed

  6. Don't touch the API token, it’s not needed in this setup

Step 4: Add a Custom Field for Cycle URL

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Work items β†’ Custom fields

  2. Click "Add custom field"

  3. Choose "URL Field"

  4. Configure the field:

    • Name: Cycle URL

    • Description: Link to associated Cycle work item

  5. Add this custom field to the Default Screen (or whichever screen is used for editing work items)

Step 5: Share Your Details

Please provide:

  • Your email (used for Jira)

  • Your API token (from Step 1)

  • Your Jira workspace URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.atlassian.net)

Once we have this, we can complete the setup for you. Let us know if you run into any issues β€” we're happy to help.
